BRESSAY WILDLIFE CRUISES OPERATE WILDLIFE BOAT TRIPS IN SHETLAND
The island of Bressay lies to the East of Lerwick in Shetland.
Bressay offers some of the most pristine natural habitat in the whole of Scotland for wildlife and birds.
Lots of wild flowers are scattered across Bressay due to the lack of pesticides used, which in turn provides a great natural habitat for small insects and small animals. This combined with the fruitful seas around Shetland allows birds to thrive.
Many birds nest on Bressay all year round, with Spring and Autumn experiencing a huge influx of migrating birds stopping off on Bressay and Noss on their journeys. Many rare breeds of birds have been spotted here over the years.
Marine life thrives here, with lots of seals scattered along the coast. Otters, Killer Whales and Minke Whales appear at times too.
The island of Noss lies to the East of Bressay. Huge sandstone cliffs have been sculpted over millions of years on Noss due to erosion. Many seabirds use these indents within the cliffs to nest.
Puffins and Gannets come back to their young after a night of fishing to feed their chicks, with the Great Skua hiding ready to pounce on them on their return journey and relieve them of their catch. This aerial pursuit and battle is worth watching from the comfort of our vessel and can be seen regularly.
There are many wrecks scattered around the Shetland Islands, from recent fishing boats that have floundered to wrecks that are decades old. These structures offer safe havens and feeding grounds for many species of fish. We will venture out to these wrecks during our sea angling trips. Cod, Haddock, Ling, Herring and Mackerel are just a few of the species that live within the waters surrounding Shetland.
Full sea angling day trips can be arranged if required.
Fishing rods supplied if required.
If you wish you can cook your own fish supper for tea.
